AMSAT forum is Saturday morning. Anyone interested in amateur radio satellites is encouraged to attend. There is also an AMSAT booth on the main floor.

The West Central Florida Group, Inc./NI4CE will have their meeting. The meeting is open and all interested parties are encouraged to attend. There is also a WCFG booth on the main floor.

The ARRL forums will start with the Hillsborough County ARES/RACES meeting followed by:

The ARRL West Central Florida Section forum with Greg Sarratt, W4OZK, ARRL's Southeastern Division Director and Mike Corey, KI1U, Emergency Preparedness Manager from ARRL Headquarters in attendance along with Darrell Davis, KT4WX, our WCF Section Manager and other Section officials. Visit and meet your elected and appointed officials. Ask questions and hear the latest from Headquarters. You can also visit the ARRL booth just inside the front door of the Expo building.

A presentation of the amateur radio response to the hurricane by Mike Corey, KI1U Emergency Preparedness Manager from ARRL Headquarters.  Mike’s credentials:  Mike Corey, KI1U, joined the ARRL HQ staff in April 2010 as Emergency Preparedness Manager. Prior to joining League staff he worked in law enforcement in Indiana and Mississippi. He has also served as an emergency management volunteer, disaster response volunteer, reserve police officer, law enforcement academy and public safety instructor, and on emergency operations center staff.  Mike, along with Vic Morris, AH6WX, is the author of the ARRL publication Storm Spotting and Amateur Radio. Mike has been licensed since 1988 and holds an Amateur Extra class license, additionally he holds Canadian basic and advanced qualifications and is licensed as VE9IU. 

Besides ARES and SKYWARN Mike’s interests in Amateur Radio are diverse; DXing, contesting, CW, satellites, digital modes, and being on the business end of the pile up are a few of his favorite activities.  His memberships include ARRL, Radio Amateurs of Canada, University of Mississippi Amateur Radio Club, Kokomo Amateur Radio Club, and Yankee Clipper Contest Club. He is also a member of the Association of Public Safety Communication Officials, International Association of Emergency Managers, and Radio Club of America.

Ronald Jones will present a forum on robot building including a demonstration.  Arduino and Raspberry Pi comparisons, Pthon, C++, ROS and OpenCV programming comparisons.  Drone racing, radio band considerations and other legalitites.  Interested in robot building, you need to be here!

Grace Lea KM4TXT will have a forum on Solar Power and Batteries.

SKYWARN classes are on Saturday afternoon. Both Basic and Advanced Skywarn classes are offered. Get certified or renew your existing certification.
